I moved into my first studio in 2002. Right behind the building was the Grunewald forest. Nature was suddenly extremely present; the city receded to the edge of things.
I took pictures in the settlements of Bruno Taut. There were individual villas and vestiges of the American occupation. Upon looking at my pictures, I was struck how Berlin is embedded in a landscape.
I began to deliberately present nature and architecture in a comparative manner and concentrated on translating trees, buildings, surfaces,
structures and forms. The pictures gesticulate with intensive coloration.
Light had become an important aspect. Light transforms colors into a moment; a few photographs accordingly resemble a scene.
